Rosenthal Wines

Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate is nestled on a 200-acre property in a canyon four miles from the Malibu Coast and 1,450 feet above sea level. Under Raleigh's guidance, a thriving viticultural business was established on this site. Twenty-five acres of hillside vines are planted in this unique microclimate, where cool breezes filter into Newton Canyon in the evening, tempering warm, sunny days. Individual plots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc are separately vinified and barrel-aged before blending.

Winemaker Christian Roguenant strives to bring out the unique terroir of the site. The reds are unfiltered and unfined, and the Chardonnay does not go through ML (malo-lactic fermentation), yielding reds designed to age gracefully and light, crisp whites that pair well with food. The Rosenthal wines have received recognition from wine critics and won multiple gold, silver and bronze medals since the first 1991 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon.

The property was designated as part of the first ever Malibu AVA ("appellation" in 1996. Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate produces award-winning wines bottled under the labels Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate and Surfrider. They can be enjoyed in some of LA's best restaurants, and many of Hollywood's top stars have sipped the wines at the estate. A tasting room on PCH was opened to the public in 2009 and has now been relocated to the corner of PCH and Topanga Canyon.
